In the late 1980s as the Asian population in Arizona become more prevalent in Arizona, Jim Shee, Marian Shee, Madeline Ong and Alan Dong formed The Arizona Asian American Association.
It was a platform to unite Asians and provide a voice in the mainstream community.
In the over 3 decades of the organization, Asians, not only in Arizona, but throughout America, has become an integral fabric of modern society.
Today, the Arizona Asian American Association consists of over 20 different Asian ethnicities. We strive to preserve and evolve the indigenous culture of our ancestors. We are proud as Asians and equally proud to be Americans.
The Arizona Asian American Association strives to enhance, celebrate, preserve and cultivate the importance of cultural diversity in the state of Arizona overall, bridging the gap and solidifying the relationship between Asian Americans and the community at large as we continue to share each one of our rich cultures furthermore, empowering our communities to do the same, and pass it down from one generation to the next.
